The Dagala Thousand Lakes Trek is a breathtaking journey through Bhutan’s high-altitude lake district, offering pristine alpine scenery and a true wilderness experience. This moderately challenging 5-day trek takes you through remote valleys dotted with shimmering turquoise lakes, across high mountain passes (up to 4,720m), and through flower-filled meadows with panoramic Himalayan views.

Your adventure begins in Paro with a visit to the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery, followed by the trek starting near Genekha village. As you ascend through juniper forests and yak pastures, you’ll discover numerous glacial lakes, each with its own spiritual significance. The highlight is Lake Relitsho, where Mount Gangchen Ta (6,840m) reflects perfectly in its still waters. The route offers excellent chances to spot blue sheep, Himalayan monal pheasants, and rare high-altitude flora.

After completing the trek, explore Thimphu’s cultural treasures before concluding your journey. Perfect for nature lovers seeking solitude, this trek runs best from April-June (spring blooms) and September-October (clear mountain views), with comfortable camping throughout.
