Sketched itinerary

Day 1: Himalayan Arrival & Capital Introduction
Touch down in Paro Valley surrounded by snow-capped peaks before transferring to Thimphu (1hr). Explore Bhutan’s charming capital at 2,334m, visiting the golden-roofed Tashichho Dzong and the massive Buddha Dordenma statue overlooking the valley. The perfect gentle introduction to Bhutanese culture.

Day 2: Thimphu’s Cultural Treasures
Immerse yourself in Bhutanese traditions at the National Memorial Chorten where locals pray, then step back in time at the Folk Heritage Museum. Meet Bhutan’s quirky national animal at the Takin Preserve and browse authentic handicrafts at local workshops.

Day 3: Mountain Pass & Punakha Wonders
Journey over the breathtaking Dochula Pass (3,100m) with its 108 stupas and (weather permitting) panoramic Himalayan views. Descend to subtropical Punakha (1,242m) to explore the magnificent riverside Punakha Dzong and hike to the playful Chimi Lhakhang fertility temple.

Day 4: Valley of the Cranes
Travel to the pristine Gangtey Valley (3,000m), stopping in Wangdue to see its cliffside dzong. Walk through the stunning Phobjikha glacial valley, home to endangered black-necked cranes in winter, and visit the important Gangtey Monastery.

Day 5: Return to Paro’s Charms
Wind through mountain roads back to Paro (5hrs). Explore the fortress-like Rinpung Dzong and the fascinating National Museum housed in an ancient watchtower. Recharge with a therapeutic hot stone bath at a traditional farmhouse.

Day 6: The Legendary Tiger’s Nest
Challenge yourself on Bhutan’s most iconic experience – the 4-hour hike to Taktsang Monastery (3,120m). This cliffside marvel, where Guru Rinpoche is said to have flown on a tigress, rewards you with breathtaking views and spiritual energy.

Day 7: Farewell to the Dragon Kingdom
Enjoy final moments in peaceful Paro, perhaps visiting Drukgyel Dzong ruins with Mount Jomolhari views, before your airport transfer. Depart with lasting memories of Bhutan’s magic.
