Thimphu Festival Tour
Experience the vibrant Thimphu Tshechu, Bhutan’s most famous religious festival, held annually in the capital city. This colourful three-day event (usually in September or October) showcases masked dances, traditional music, and sacred rituals performed by monks and locals to honour Guru Rinpoche, the saint who brought Buddhism to Bhutan.
Witness the grand unfurling of the Thongdrel (a giant sacred tapestry) at Tashichho Dzong, believed to bring blessings to all who see it. The festival is a lively blend of spirituality and culture, with locals dressed in their finest Kira’s and gho, offering prayers and celebrations.
Your tour includes guided visits to Thimphu’s key attractions like the Buddha Dordenma Statue and Memorial Chorten, along with immersive cultural experiences. The festival’s duration is 3 days, with additional days for sightseeing, making it a 9-10 day itinerary.
